Microsoft building footprints

Microsoft building footprint data provides polygon geometries that help Aino understand built form around a site. These polygons can be used to estimate density, identify surrounding development patterns and add building context to feasibility maps.

The data is especially useful for urban analysis where the presence, shape and distribution of buildings matter for accessibility, catchment and development context.

Source reference

Microsoft Building Footprints is a dataset of building outlines collected from multiple sources and processed by Microsoft. Some buildings are grouped into larger quarters or blocks depending on source quality and geography.

The attribute table can include information about building height and confidence. Much of the data is extracted with AI technology from satellite imagery.
